Two Kittens Together

In honor of Adopt a Shelter Cat Month—and the super-success of our HoverCat video—the ASPCA will be hosting a Livestream event tonight from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. EST. The event will feature YouTube celebs Jesse and Jeana of Prank vs. Prank, Good Morning America anchor Dan Harris, our very own Diane Wilkerson, and three mega-cute kittens! Best of all? You’ll be able to watch right from your computer!

Lights, Camera, Action for ASPCA Dogs!

Monday, June 4, 2012 - 2:00pm

What can we say? Our office pooches are pretty darn cute. You know, the kind of cute that gets you noticed. Just check them out in Banana Republic's new video showcasing the colorful Trina Turk Collection. We hate to brag, but our rescued canines look pretty awesome in paisley.

Banana Republic and the ASPCA created the video to increase awareness of pet adoption. After all, who wouldn't want a pup who likes to play dress-up with Trina Turk scarves?  If you can't wait to play dress-up yourself, "like" Banana's Facebook page for the chance to shop the collection early, on June 6.

Interested in adopting? Visit our Virtual Adoption Center to scout out available animals at the ASPCA, find a shelter in your area or learn more about pet adoption.

It’s National Donut Day!

Friday, June 1, 2012 - 3:30pm
Donuts For Dogs

Wake up, America, there's a whole lot of happy going on—it’s National Donut Day! Started by the Salvation Army in 1938, this mini-holiday honors the Army’s “Donut Lassies,” who served treats to soldiers during World War I.

Frosted? Cream-filled? Covered with sprinkles? No matter how you like them, there is no denying they’re yummy. And your dog thinks so, too!

Our special doughnut-shaped dog treats are made of 100% all-natural ingredients with absolutely no preservatives. Not only will your dog think they are delicious, these treats are actually good for pups, too!

Best of all, all proceeds from your purchases go to support our life-saving programs all over the country. So go ahead and eat a donut—but don’t forget your pooch!

ASPCA Returns to Joplin to Host Low-Cost Spay/Neuter & Vaccine Clinic

Wednesday, May 23, 2012 - 3:00pm
ASPCA Spay Neuter Vaccine Clinic In Joplin

To mark the first anniversary of the Joplin tornado, the ASPCA's National Spay/Neuter Project is returning to the once-devastated community. Teaming up with Joplin Humane Society, the team will host a low-cost spay/neuter and vaccine clinic from June 1 to June 3.

"Last year, the ASPCA was one of the first responders on the scene, and we witnessed first-hand the devastation that the tornado caused," says Shelby Davis, Director of ASPCA Spay/Neuter Operations. "We have returned to Joplin to offer much-needed animal services to pet parents who may still be struggling to make ends meet."

Appointments must be made in advance for the spay/neuter surgery, and the vaccine clinic will run from noon to 3:00 P.M. each day. For more information or to make an appointment for spay/neuter, Joplin-area residents should call (877) SPAY-NYC.

It’s Be Kind to Animals Week!

Monday, May 7, 2012 - 1:15pm
Boy Cuddling Puppy

It’s Be Kind to Animals Week, and a great time to share your love of animals with the kids in your life. Here are a few of our top ideas:

Volunteer Together
Sure, many shelters require volunteers to be 18 to handle animals—but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing kids can do to help! Kids can hold a bake sale for a local shelter, help with web design or do even more—check out the stories of ASPCA Kids of the Year Olivia Boulet and Mimi Ausland for ideas. Call your favorite shelter to ask what your kids can do.

Get Crafty
If you’ve got a future artist on your hands, consider getting messy in the craft room for shelter animals. What can you do? For starters, you can make cat toys for homeless kitties in your area. Check out this page for instructions. (Hint: You’ll need some old socks.)

Get ‘Em Involved in Pet Care
Whether you decide your 12-year-old is ready for his own guinea pig or you want your 14-year-old to feed the dog dinner each day, getting your kids involved in caring for your pets will help them build a lasting love for animals. Where to start? Check out our guide to how much pet care kids can likely handle. Then send them to ASPCAKids.org’s Pet Care section.

Cuddling with a Kitten

Let’s face it: Finding the perfect Mother’s Day gift isn’t easy. In fact, it can be downright hard. Flowers are overrated and chocolates…well, they’re not really long-lasting. So why not try something a little different this year? This Mother's Day, give her something meaningful. Make an ASPCA Symbolic Gift in your loved one’s name—and change the life of an animal forever.

Our Symbolic Gifts program allows you to choose an action that will benefit animals in need.
Options include: emergency transport for an animal victim of cruelty, a spay/neuter surgery, or you can select the ASPCA’s area of greatest need. There are dozens of actions to choose from.

Order your ASPCA Symbolic Gift today!

Congratulations to the 2012 $100K Challenge Contestants!

Friday, April 20, 2012 - 3:15pm
Ed Sayres, ASPCA President & CEO

It’s been an exciting week at the ASPCA, since we just announced the 50 finalists of the 2012 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. These 50 groups, all animal welfare organizations, now move on to the next round of our competition. Every contestant is ultimately a winner because every group will be working to save more animals’ lives. Those competitors who have the biggest increases in lives saved over the same time period last year—as well as those that do the best job of engaging their communities—will be eligible to share in the more than $500,000 in prize grants we are awarding for their life-saving work.

Shelters in every region of the country are entered in the challenge, and they need your support. Wouldn’t it be nice if the shelter where you adopted your dog and cat won lots of money to save more pets like yours? Even if you won’t be able to adopt a dog or cat this year, you can help by promoting your favorite shelter through social media during the competition or by telling your friends to consider adopting their next pet from that shelter. I hope you all will pick a shelter to support. You can find out more at www.aspca.org/100K.

Good luck to all of the 2012 $100K Challenge contestants!

Right now, all donations made through this program will be shared with participating shelters across the country. So go ahead—double your donation, double your impact and help save twice as many animals nationwide!

Please consider a gift of  $10, $20, $50 and rest assured that even the smallest sum will make a big difference for animals in need.

Act fast, this challenge is scheduled to run from now until May 31—or until $50,000 in matching donations has been reached.
