Visit Members of Congress at Home and Speak Up For Animals!

Your two U.S. senators and your U.S. representative will be home next month—don’t let this opportunity pass you by!

Every year, Congress takes the month of August off (pretty sweet job!). During the August recess, senators and representatives travel back to their home states and districts—after months spent in Washington, D.C., this is a time for them to reconnect with their constituents. This means you! Next month is going to offer great opportunities for you to meet with your congress members in-person, on your home turf, to advocate for animals.

Attending town hall meetings or scheduling time with your legislators in their state or district offices are great ways to advocate for animals. You can find out when town hall meetings are scheduled by contacting your legislators’ offices—before you go, you might want to read up on how to participate in town hall meetings). We also have some simple dos and don’ts for meeting with your legislators.

Speaking with your legislators face-to-face is the most effective thing you can do to promote animal welfare legislation! Look up your legislators’ information here and contact them today!

There is no place for puppy mills, dog fighting, rooster fighting, unsafe/inhuamne farms/factories...they are all cruel and awful. It's important and essential that we speak up for those who do not have a voice to be heard. As human beings we are responsible to ourselves and to others to do the right thing. Doing the right thing means doing right by all others no matter what form their soul takes!

Factory farms, puppie mills,animal testing, collages and universities, teachers teaching student to harm torture and terrorize animals, its sick, mentally disturbing, and heartbreaking, if people would just take the time to watch these undercover videos, and stand up for these lives being tortured, instead of egnoring them, what is this sick world coming to?? Any form of animal neglect/abuse indicates a human being without a soul....one to be feared and pitied and fought ruthlessley. Our society does not want to be involved in anything that is different, as in speaking out for wrong doings. If you do not speak out against a wrong...you are a part of the wrong doing!!! Be brave, as the four-leggeds and winged ones are not able to defend themselves...we are their voices and hearts. NOW not tomorrow. Aho!

I recently found a cute little stray kitten in my backyard under a tree. She was maybe only a few months old. America (as we named her) was EXTREMELY neglected. You could see her backbone, hip bones and had almost no muscle control. We only had her for 3 days and everyday, she seemed too be doing a tiny bit better. America was eating some soft food and drinking milk. But this morning, she took a turn for the worse. She could barely breathe and couldnt move. We called the vet and he said that the fleas she most likely had had on her at one point, sucked the life out of her!! She was severely Anemic and was most likely not going too make it much longer. After a long morning of sitting with her and trying too make her comfortable, America sadly passed away. We called the local animal control too see if there was anything we could do, if anything. (we knew what house the kitten had come from and he had others in just as bad of shape as America) Our calls only made the morning even more sad. We were informed that just because we fed her, she wasnt technically ours and thus making it difficult for the animal control officer in town too do something. His exact quote was "Well, just because you put food out for her, doesnt make her yours. I could put food out for Raccoons and call them mine" more or less....if America was a dog, they would have been right out. But since she was a cat, there was absolutly nothing they could do. It angers me too NO end that poor America and other cats can be treated this way and get the response we did...from several different places!! This needs too stop NOW!!!
