U.S. Senate Takes Action to Protect Captive Primates

These animals should not be held in captivity because if we did not have jerks trying to kill them there would be more than enough so we would not have to have them in captivity. please protect these innocent animals.

The Captive Primate Safety Act would ban monkeys and other primates from the exotic pet trade. As we all know, no wild animal, especially a primate, should ever be kept as a pet. Apes and monkeys are highly intelligent animals who need to live with their own kind in order to develop normally. In the wild, they inhabit large territories and enjoy companionship in organized social groups. Private owners have neither the knowledge nor the proper environments to provide the long-term, specialized care that captive primates require. Many captive primates have attacked humans and other animals, or have escaped from their enclosures into the community. Bites and scratches from nonhuman primates can transmit viruses that can cause severe infections and even death to humans.

They should be able to live in the wild freely with their own kind. If someone has a monkey and it attacks someone or a small child, there's a chance that, that monkey could possibly be put down which has happened before. It is definitely not fair to the animal at all. They should live in the wild, which is their home.

Any wild animal needs to be in the wild not as pets. No wild animal should be caged up and abuse. These are wild animals and do not keep them as pets. They need to be in the wild where they belong. Thank you for doing your job. We need more laws to protect all animals. No animal should suffer from any humans.
