Who'll Be the ASPCA's 2013 Calendar Cover Model? Cast Your Vote!

Thursday, August 23, 2012 - 11:30am

We're putting our 2013 calendar together right now, and staffers and volunteers representing all 12 months of the year have been photographed with their furry friends. There's only one big decision left to make, and we’re leaving the answer up to you: Who should grace the calendar’s cover?

We've narrowed down the field to four contenders. Check out the photos that are in the running, read a little about their sweet four-legged subjects, and then cast your vote for our 2013 Cover Dog or Cat. The pet whose photo gets the most votes will have his or her face in homes all over America!

Buddy

Zoom

Abandoned in Brooklyn, Buddy was rescued by an ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Agent. Soon this irresistible Terrier found his forever home with another member of our Anti-Cruelty team.

Maow & Bruce

Zoom

Cuddly siblings and BFFs Maow and Bruce were adopted from a tiny shelter in Rego Park, Queens. Maow is a dainty lady, while Bruce is an expert boxer.

Pooch & Schnogg

Zoom

Pooch survived a gunshot wound as a puppy and was adopted by a loving family that included big brother Schnogg. Now Pooch, the baby of the house, rules the roost.

Rocky

Zoom

Named for his favorite playing position (sitting on his back legs and using his front paws), Rocky is a fun-loving feline who keeps a close eye on his younger sister Lucy.

I think that the ASPCA includes a lot of different animals' pics in their calendars. If it was my job to select one pic for the cover, the cover would have to be really big because I think they all deserve to be in the limelight!

Please forget all the human-centric nonsense and focus on the task at hand: choosing from these sweet animals. I love the photo of Buddy. Isn't he a cute, happy looking little pooch? (-:

I would dearly love to see a Pomeranian nominated next year for the 2014 calendar. I'm the proud mommy of a Pommy, they're such adorable dogs! As for this years calendar, as cute as those kitties are, Buddy is clearly the big winner... he's just oozing with personality!!!

Unfortunately, we are judged by our speech, grammar, and spelling. To get the attention and respect for our cause, it is important to present the information in a manner that commands respect.

I agree with another persons comment about cats and dogs together on the cover. I'm sure you have seen cats and dogs friendly with eachother. But I am more a cat person myself... cats rule.... dogs drool. : )

I think the spelling aficionado probably spends their day harassing bloggers all over the Internet for their ineptitude at spelling. What a disgrace! PLEASE, give me a break!! My two Goldens could care less how I spell a word. These precious animals are alive because someone loved them and are trying to make a difference in their lives, not trying to win a spelling contest. Here's to those who understands what is really important in life and takes comfort in the second chance these beautiful dogs and cats are getting. If there is someone that is not going to support ASPCA simply because of an improperly spelled word, then who needs them!

He is SOOOO Adorable! with a Smile like that! He has GOT to be the 2013 Calendar Model! He's just too cute not to be! God Bless you all and Buddy!

Would like to see a yorkie on the cover at some point.

All four of the pictures are great, but I like Pooch & Schnogg and Rocky the best of the four. It was still awfully hard to chose between those two. Which ever makes the cover, it will still be a great calendar. I could never work at the ASPCA, Humane Society or any shelter because I would want t bring all of the animals home... :)

I have an idea.... downsize the four pictures, and put them ALL on the cover of the calender. :))

how do i or where do i send a photo of my cat who Is a Maincoon cat , for the cover .......how do i go about doing that..?? BUT, I am also Voting here as well for the calander Now..... thank you, k.Huntley

I try to spell my words correctly, but sometimes my hands just doesn't function as they used to and I will hit a wrong key. It isn't that I can't spell. I just have trouble with my hands and eyes. So I hope I am not crucified for spelling a word wrong. Shame on you critics for bullying people on spelling when we want the animals to be safe. My new rescue doesn't care if I snc spell and long as she can give kisses!

Prefer Buddy as he seems the better focal point for a cover.

I love all the pictures there all lovely I like to read comments once in awhile but i was expecting something like those animals are so amazing and adorable yet as always I read comments about spelling and people juding and point out each other mistakes which is very childish and the only people that should point out ur spelling is your teacher so grow up people because you ain't no saint eather

Thanks for this beautiful pictures. Love the 4 pics and their story! :)

I like the picture of Rocky but you need to photo edit the upper left corner. There is too much white that makes it look like the picture is washed out.

its so hard to choose ther all so cute!

I think it's time to grow up. Your all wasting my time and many others. Page after page of people complaining and not sticking with what's important. I'm going to leave this sight because of all the complaining. GROW UP!!!

Put all the pictures!! As many as possible. Get the word and images out. I give monthly(Guardian Membership). Love all animals and all those that hurt them should suffer the same consequences. I think they need to all be locked up and the key trown away. What is wrong with people these days?? Shame on those that hurt animals.

It is too hard to pick! They are all beautiful! Why don't you do a collage! That would be cool!

You read my mind...why choose? They are all worthy of front page. I picked the red puddy tats because I had the honor of being the mom to a wonderful red.

would love to see a pit bull as a choice!

just letting you know that I voted for ROCKY - my name is also Rocky. They are all so adorable.

hey why not do a collage (sp?) of photos for the cover. give them all their 12 months of fame!

All of the pictures are so cute & it was a very hard choice, but I really love little Rocky! Thank you very much, ASPCA, for all of your hard work! I wish I wasn't so broke so I could donate hundreds of dollars to you to help more precious animals! Maybe someday!

I loved all the photos...so hard to choose!

I would like to see both a cat and a dog one the calender cover. I love all animals

I voted for Buddy because the sight would only let me vote for one - but I'd really like to see the cover with all four pictures or a melange of cats, dogs, horses, birds, ferrets, bunnies, lambs.......all God's creatures. (...and some people may feel that their way is the right way to communicate, but I say the fact that there is actual communication is what is important - so both sides of the spelling controversy should just CHILL!)

i ain't go no pashence 4 pepul who can't speel. git an educashun!!

It was very difficult to choose because they are all really adorable.

I'm a cat person, but would like to see both cat & dog together on the cover.

With all that is negative in the world today, it is refreshing to see there are organizations that continue to focus on doing good and encouraging others to become involved. Supporting positive efforts, whether voting for a calendar cover or reporting animal abuse, we need to remain focused on the positive.

I really wassn't blown away by any of these but what really maters is the work that is done by the ASPCA and it's supporters who would do well to keep the focus on that and not on speklling errors. The state of education in this country is of huge concern but this site is concerned with educating people about proper care and prevention of cruelty to animals.

I love them all, but unresponsible, negligent people treat cats like disposable commodities. They are life...period. It doesn't require a PHD or MBA to be humane and care for your pet. Pets are faithful, non judgmental companions and better than most people. Save the fur babies!

Uh oh... I meant irresponsible and nonjudgemental. Be kind to each other, we are all on the same side.

Although I already cast my vote on this one, I agree with some who suggested other animals like horses, rabbits, pigs, etc. for next time.

Would liked to have seen dogs and cats together as I have both and love both.

Would liked to have seen dogs and cats together as I have both and love both.

I voted for Pooch and Schnog...but I also think that it would be cool to have a mixture of all different kinds of animals on the front cover!

Love them all ... why not divide the page in four parts and place these four photos as the calendar cover...

seems the focus was lost. I just want to vote!

My husband and I also give monthly and that is what we should be doing instead of worrying about somebody spelling a word wrong, PLEASE.

is a hard choice....perhaps one cover for dogs and one for cats? At least reassure us that all of the photos will be included, if not on thecove cover, then inside.r then inside!

I came to this site to vote for the best cover animal. I started to read some of the comments and came across a spelling error. Then someone corrects the person who made the error. Then someone gets angry at the person making the correction. And then attacks against each other one after the other back and forth, for good spelling and others saying spelling is not important. Six animals above waiting for your votes and it comes down to this silly bickering over the spelling of words. Hate to see you folks getting upset this way over something so trivial. The person who started all this is the one who wrote "incorrect spelling, very non-professional". Are you sure it shouldn't be unprofessional? Maybe you could start another argument over that. Come on folks we are here to help the animals. Please stop insulting each other.

It would be really great if the 3 photos NOT picked for the cover can still be inside the calendar for three of the months. :)

I'm just pleased that there are people, however they may spell or misspell a word, that care about animals that are in need of kindness whether they are shelter animals, rescues or, as in my case, feral cats. Please continue your kindness to all of our furry, and not so furry, friends. Peace.

The other finalist have all been adopted. Rockys info didn't imply he has a home, which is why he got my vote.

Hard to choose a cover picture. Why not have all the animals grace the cover?

Would love to see some other animals besides cats or dogs featured---like bunnies!
