Who'll Be the ASPCA's 2013 Calendar Cover Model? Cast Your Vote!

Thursday, August 23, 2012 - 11:30am

We're putting our 2013 calendar together right now, and staffers and volunteers representing all 12 months of the year have been photographed with their furry friends. There's only one big decision left to make, and we’re leaving the answer up to you: Who should grace the calendar’s cover?

We've narrowed down the field to four contenders. Check out the photos that are in the running, read a little about their sweet four-legged subjects, and then cast your vote for our 2013 Cover Dog or Cat. The pet whose photo gets the most votes will have his or her face in homes all over America!

Buddy

Zoom

Abandoned in Brooklyn, Buddy was rescued by an ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Agent. Soon this irresistible Terrier found his forever home with another member of our Anti-Cruelty team.

Maow & Bruce

Zoom

Cuddly siblings and BFFs Maow and Bruce were adopted from a tiny shelter in Rego Park, Queens. Maow is a dainty lady, while Bruce is an expert boxer.

Pooch & Schnogg

Zoom

Pooch survived a gunshot wound as a puppy and was adopted by a loving family that included big brother Schnogg. Now Pooch, the baby of the house, rules the roost.

Rocky

Zoom

Named for his favorite playing position (sitting on his back legs and using his front paws), Rocky is a fun-loving feline who keeps a close eye on his younger sister Lucy.

would really have liked to see photo's of cats and dogs together for the cover

i prefer them seperate

separate is how it is spelled, not seperate

Really You're going to be that nitpicky? Give me a break!

These comments are fcome from the public . Not from the writers of this website. We are choosing a cover . Not applying for a postion as a journalist with the ASPCA.

I love you all...I love ALL of the animals!!! You can mispell you can be silly you guys are the best!! Hey, how about horses?? :)

Love horses too, wish we could help all animals-- THANK YALL so much for everything u do. My wife and me give every month, just wish we could give more!!! So again THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Would love to see horses included.

Horses absolutely, I have a tennesse walker,3 rescue dogs, and 2 rescue cats.

I love Horses. They are the perfect companions! They are wonderful partners and best friends.

Oops, it is "mispelling" or "misspelling"? I don't want to called either when I just signed in to vote for my favorite calendar pic...sorry, picture. Really, relax, isn't this site about our love for animals.

I totally agree we should care about the animals not our spelling.

If you don't present an intelligent image people will ignore your pleas for animals. Spelling IS important.

Now you're sounding just like a politician, bickering about your own concerns and not those of others. Be nice or go home. There are other venues for this kind of nonsense.

I second this comment!

I agree! It's so stupid to be concerned over such triviality! Get lives people....ohhhh did I spell all my words correctly? LOL

I'm sick of people careing about spelling jhezz I thout this website was for animal lovers olny u guys are to worried about spelling to even care about the animals

This is to you Mr./Missy forget the spelling. Why don't you put your engery into the animals. JURK

I agree it is important to be professional and have an intelligent image but not when commenting on a voting poll. You, yourself sound unprofessional picking up fights over spelling. Seriously, RELAX!

ok, point made s p e l l i n g is important. Present an intelligent image or get ignored!!! Seriously, the real and main concern is not about any kind of miss-spelled word, it is about the welfare of the animals that rely on humans to take care of them. They give us unconditional love, they dont care how we spell. And ignore our pleas for animals because of miss-spelled words, really?

OMG! Spelling has no reverance to helping animals. Get over it and be thankful for all those that do help the animals, not spend their time taking spelling courses....

I agree that spelling is important and makes a difference in how a person comes across. I know that my impression of a person is influenced by spelling and grammar. However, I don't think that a person needs to be called out on it in a public forum. That is for teachers and employers to address, not strangers on the web. ;)

By all means care for the animals and dismiss the spelling problem that is just too nit picky.

Who care as long as you know what was meant by the sentence. The mind does not see every letter in a word to be able to read the sentence. The reason for being here in the first place is our love for the animals..

For the people that insist on correcting others in their grammar and spelling, could we PLEASE turn over a new leaf in this country and STOP being so critical of one another? We are ALL on this page / website (or should be) to assist with the saving of lives of thousands of defenseless animals and to protect them and their rights! They could care less if we spell correctly, or if we have good grammar, because they see us from the inside out - and they love us unconditionally! Thank you...

Well said. Even though it is important to be able to spell, this is not about the proper use of the English language. We need to focus our attention to the many abused animals in our society and take the time to care and protect.

LOL It's "misspelling," and also, "photos," NOT "photo's" with an apostrophe (see above). Of course, the point here is our love of animals, though correct grammar and spelling are always a good thing too.

Mispelling, you forgot your question mark! ha ha just kidding!!! I love all the pictures but the up close of the cat is just too cute. I also love when cats and dogs are shown together.

Who are you to correct someone, they are voicing there opinion. Keep you negativity to yourself Ms/Mr Perfect.

It would seem appropriate that someone who doesn't know the difference between you and your would defend poor spelling.

Who are you to correct someone, they are voicing there opinion. Keep you negativity to yourself Ms/Mr Perfect.

As a retired secretary, it is an occupational habit that poor grammar and misspelled words just catch my attention. It is difficult to read comprehensively with so many errors. I fight for animals and do what I can, but I do wish people would learn the English language and either use spell-check or keep a dictionary by the computer. By the way, the word you want is "their" opinion, NOT "there".

Thank you!

I'm so disappointed in the fact that I joined the ASPCA believing that those who put forth the efforts to help abused and neglected animals would be the wiser. If spelling is of the utmost importance to you, (and not that of simply voting on a calender cover for the ASPCA), then perhaps you should focus your efforts and misguided animosity towards a career as an English teacher. Perhaps just ASK YOURSELF why you're here in the first place. Mediocity DOES NOT favor results! IT IS tolerance and understanding that can accomplish great things!

Jason I agree with you 100%!!!

Yes, put energy into. Helping animals, but it is sad that so many people in our country are. So poorly educated.

*APPLAUSE* the rubuttal (did I spell that right) and the work you do, by and large; much more important than Spell check. Thanks for doing what most of us would never consider - HIGH FIVE

Some people don't have a life... so all they have to do is set back and correct people all the freaking time.So what if you miss spelled a word. God do not make us perfect. Some people need a life!!!!!

While the focus is on animal welfare, I agree we should check our spelling and grammar. Please don't be so defensive, some of us just prefer the correct spelling and use of grammar in our remarks.

Well said.

Thank You!

Thank you!

Really!!?? Maybe if people like you took more time out of their lives to do good, instead of looking for little errors in others the world would be a much better place. The people at the ASPCA are too busy trying to help those with no voice of their own to worry about something as small as a spelling error. I hope you enjoy the view from up where you are sitting. Maybe one day you could join the rest of us down here we have great views too.

this person must be a Webster get a life and leave ASPCA alone they have alot of work to do than to spell checked.

I totally agree..Forget the spelling and think of our furry friends in need of loving homes...

Write on! Oops! I meant "Right On!" Animals first!Enough with the chatter on spelling!

Love this comeback! I couldn't have said it better myself. The ASPCA and (Most) of it's members are concerned with the welfare of our beautiful creatures who do not have a voice. We must be that for them and work tirelessly to put an end to the ongoing and continuous abuse that takes place EVERY DAY. Spelling and grammar in a individual blog is NOT important. We all knew what he/she meant. Get off your throne and behave like the kind hearted human being we should all strive to be.

Complaining about spelling issues when it's not even a post from someone at the ASPCA? Calm down and go chill out!

Really? No one cares how things are spelled. We all knew that that person ment. It's about the love of animals here people, not how things are spelled.
