Who'll Be the ASPCA's 2013 Calendar Cover Model? Cast Your Vote!

We're putting our 2013 calendar together right now, and staffers and volunteers representing all 12 months of the year have been photographed with their furry friends. There's only one big decision left to make, and we’re leaving the answer up to you: Who should grace the calendar’s cover?

We've narrowed down the field to four contenders. Check out the photos that are in the running, read a little about their sweet four-legged subjects, and then cast your vote for our 2013 Cover Dog or Cat. The pet whose photo gets the most votes will have his or her face in homes all over America!

Buddy

Zoom

Abandoned in Brooklyn, Buddy was rescued by an ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Agent. Soon this irresistible Terrier found his forever home with another member of our Anti-Cruelty team.

Maow & Bruce

Cuddly siblings and BFFs Maow and Bruce were adopted from a tiny shelter in Rego Park, Queens. Maow is a dainty lady, while Bruce is an expert boxer.

Pooch & Schnogg

Zoom

Pooch survived a gunshot wound as a puppy and was adopted by a loving family that included big brother Schnogg. Now Pooch, the baby of the house, rules the roost.

Rocky

Named for his favorite playing position (sitting on his back legs and using his front paws), Rocky is a fun-loving feline who keeps a close eye on his younger sister Lucy.

More cats than dogs are killed in shelters every year. Any help the cats can get is beneficial. How about s pic with a horse, cat, dog, hamster and a bird!!!

How can I get one? The picture of pooch and schnogg was awsome....I have a dog who is about 1 1/2 yrs old and looks like the dog on the right ( the lighter one on the right side of the pic.

On Aug 25 , 2012 It was hard to pick one as all should be chosen but I know you can't so I choosevthe sibblings as it's hard to find a family willing to take siblings, senior animals or as we refer to them babies and those with special needs so we are all so thankful for all of you and those that adopt them.

Cute photo's and i love every animal of every kind and support them all but where are, and why aren't the bully breeds represented? It would have been nice for the ASPCA to showcase a Pitbull on the cover. They are after all the #1 most euthanized breed in the USA. They need all of the support that they can get. Let's hope that we see a couple in the 12 month calendar,

It was a difficult choice; I am a dog person, but I love cats also. It would have been nice to see a picture of them together so we could pretend that there is "peace on earth."

The cover should be a photo of a cat and a dog together. And, I hope at least one month includes a small animal such as a hamster or rabbit and another month includes a bird or parrot with the statistics of the number of those animals destroyed in shelters each year.

All four pix are wonderful, and as someone new to terriers--two Jack Russells I've fostered for six months--who is a longtime cat guardian person, it was a tough call. But: tabby cats win out with me (mine have "trained" the terriers, too!). Their beautiful feline faces just get me every time!!

Our animals love us unconditionally despite our shortcomings. If it were about spelling I would have never earned the heart of an animal. Point is they see past what we consider flaws, if only this were true with humanity. No wonder we seek out the love of animals.

Wow why would anyone talk about spelling in these comments. I don't get it at all. This is about animals. If you want to criticize people for grammar you should comment elsewhere. As far as the calendar I had such a hard time picking who should win. I have two cats so maybe that is why I chose Maow and Bruce. I also have an orange tabby named Tiger, my first cat than I also have Sassy my white and black cat.

ASPCA don't give people a sound board, or they will focus on trivial stuff like spelling in this case rather than on the animals. Plus it's annoying to see people's idiot comments...I'm here for the animals. Thanks for letting us vote!!!

I think that a dog with a cat touches on all pet lovers and we don't have to choose just one type of pet, because after all, the ASPCA doesn't just rescue one breed!

Tsk tsk, since you insist on being that anal, let's correct your mistakes, shall we? A comma should have followed 'comprehensively' and the final period should not have come after the quotation marks, but before them. ;) Anyway, back to the issue at hand. I agree with the person who posted that they would like to see photos of cats and dogs together, on the cover.

I voted, but I'd rather see all four on the cover - with two of them, side by side, then directly below the first two, put the other two, side by side, as well. I think that would be the best option.

I would have liked to have seen more photos to choose from. There may have been on a prior email and these were the 'finalist'. I don't know, but I chose the one I liked out of these. thanks for your kind work for the animals!

except for Rocky, all of these animals seem overfed/overweight. I wonder if this is due to photoshop or some other program...but IMO the animal that gets the cover should be a healthy representation of its species not otherwise. Hard for me to believe these were the best? Or is it their story that is more important? *no offense to the lovely animals pictured!

Keep up the good work. People that mistreat animals are definitely criminals and such be treated as such. Regarding the calendar; it's a shame all the nimals can't be on the front, so I chose Pooch and Schnogg because surviving a gun shot is amazing. What a tough thing to do.

I THINK IT WOULD BE PERFECTLY FINE IF YOU HAD A COVER THAT WAS SECTIONED OFF TO FOUR (4) PICTURES TO A COVER......TWO OF CATS AND TWO OF DOGS OR.......DOGS AND CATS TOGETHER IN THE SAME PICTURE, LIKE THEY WERE 'FRIENDS'! HOW'S THAT FOR VARIETY??????

I like others' ideas, to put all 4 pictures on the cover this year, and on future covers, perhaps mix dogs and cats together one year, and dogs, cats, birds, horses another year, like a picture-collage.
