Who'll Be the ASPCA's 2013 Calendar Cover Model? Cast Your Vote!

Thursday, August 23, 2012 - 11:30am

We're putting our 2013 calendar together right now, and staffers and volunteers representing all 12 months of the year have been photographed with their furry friends. There's only one big decision left to make, and we’re leaving the answer up to you: Who should grace the calendar’s cover?

We've narrowed down the field to four contenders. Check out the photos that are in the running, read a little about their sweet four-legged subjects, and then cast your vote for our 2013 Cover Dog or Cat. The pet whose photo gets the most votes will have his or her face in homes all over America!

Buddy

Zoom

Abandoned in Brooklyn, Buddy was rescued by an ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Agent. Soon this irresistible Terrier found his forever home with another member of our Anti-Cruelty team.

Maow & Bruce

Zoom

Cuddly siblings and BFFs Maow and Bruce were adopted from a tiny shelter in Rego Park, Queens. Maow is a dainty lady, while Bruce is an expert boxer.

Pooch & Schnogg

Zoom

Pooch survived a gunshot wound as a puppy and was adopted by a loving family that included big brother Schnogg. Now Pooch, the baby of the house, rules the roost.

Rocky

Zoom

Named for his favorite playing position (sitting on his back legs and using his front paws), Rocky is a fun-loving feline who keeps a close eye on his younger sister Lucy.

I too, would love to see a dog and cat together...I had difficulty choosing as I LOVE all animals (great and small)...

I think all those Beautiful Babies should be in the Calender if not on the Cover.

I like Pooch & Schnoog ... to be shot as a puppy and then be a "covergirl" is the ultimate compliment and status for this lovely pair ... though I agree that it would be nice to see a menagerie of animals for the cover.

I would have liked to see more pictures of dogs and cats together. Like puppies and kittens.

I wish I could vote for all four photos of these beautiful pets. Thank you for saving each of these animals and all the others you work to help every day.

great idia can't wait to see who wins :)

Would love to see BOTH DOGS and CATS on your cover,a montage.

All the cats and dogs are beautiful and are sucess stories. Hard to select just one, but picked Rocky. A cover with all four photos would be wonderful. Photos of dogs and cats together would also be great to see on the cover. Thanks for all you do for the innocent animals by caring for them and finding loving homes for them.

Although it was hard to choose because I thought they all are adorable, I have to agree that it would be nice to have a combination cover on the front of kittens, puppies, cats, dogs or any other animal that may come through ASPCA to be adopted.

I have both cats & dogs, all rescue animals, so that didn't affect my decision. I felt that since cats tend to be harder to place & the population is so out of control it makes sense to focus public attention on the adoption of cats.

I had to vote for pooch due to the story but I felt guilty as the others starred at me! Awwww hope they all make it!

I think that a collage of all the animals would be great----But if there is only one--I pick Buddy!

I see that one of these dogs is overweight and if you think you are helping that dog you are delusional. Put him on a diet, that is cruelty to have any animal overweight.

I wish they all could be cover pictures. They are all very precious!!

This is how I see it..you should use the before and after pic's of them all. Because you kill me everytime that you run one of those commercials on TV. I volunteer everywhere I can locally, at all the shelters, the stables, I have always gotten rescue animals except for this last one, my husband got from his hair person. But, we still have 3 dogs and 1 cat. And, of course with my luck their has to be something different wrong with every single one of them and they all have to have different food and extra Vet bills plus meds. I have MS and Fybromyalgia, so my husband is the only one bringing in a paycheck.... So, if you want to make people give you their last dime, which I try to do as often as possible...run the before and after pic's. Like I said, all those commercials send me bawling to find my animals and give them hugs and kisses. I even have adopted treat time in the neighborhood for the animals. They all know they can come to my house in the afternoon for a Milk Bone. My husband is a very tolerant man.

A collage of all is what I'd enjoy seeing.

cover should have both cat and dog photo

All the pictures are so cute! How can anyone give up or harm these pets? They should feel so much guilt!

I love them ALL! So hard to choose!

Gostaria de ver a capa com cão e gato juntos!!

I also think you shoul pick one dog AND one cat for the cover

I like them all. They should all be on the cover to appeal to both cat and dog lovers. Thanks for all you do for unwanted and abused animals.

Don't you have a picture with a cat and a dog on one page? It seems you exclude the one from the other ...

I am already receiving ASPCA emails. Thanks.

Hard to choose, all adorable. Why can't there be a combo cover featuring not only the most common(puppies, kittens, cats and dogs) but any other animal that may come to you for care. It should not be limited when there are others that need recognition too.

Since this calendar is for the ASPCA it should include both cats and dogs. Though I'm more of a cat person (6 cats and 3 ferals), I pet sit both and I have both grandkitties and granddoggies. The comments above regarding promoting multiple pet adoptions are great ideas. Of course it would be great if a picture could show the love and joy that comes from sharing your life with these fabulous animals.

Where are these animals from? Were they rescue dogs/cats?

I think a cat and dog together would be great I have both and they get along fantastically. I have great pictures too.

Why just pick one of these cuties when you can do a 4-split on the front cover and showcase all of them! They are all very cute!

Would like to see a picture of cats and dogs together

While having a kitty and puppy together on the cover, I voted for Rocky because he looks so much like my Oliver who I had to put down last spring. All of the choices are great!!!

I'm a dog lover but I couldn't help but vote for Rocky, his picture was just too precious! I'd love to see a picture with puppies as one of the options.

Why do comment sections always have to get nasty? The ASPCA is all about saving and protecting animals, all types and all breeds. There's going to be problems with each and every one, just like there are with people, as proven here. This comment section, I thought, was about the upcoming calendar. Love all the pictures! By the way, my cat is an indoor/outdoor cat: when I'm out, he's out in the yard playing. Thank you, ASPCA, for what you do.

put all 4 pictures on the cover-

put all 4 pictures on the cover-

Wish there were more than 4 photographs to select from. None of the four are particularly appealing to me considering what is out there in rescued animals.

All beautiful! So very difficult to choose just one.

I think bot dogs and cats deserve to grace the front of 2013 calender. Did'nt see a picture of a dog and cat together. Why?

Since ALL the pet pictures presented are so beautiful that makes it hard to chose only one, I humbly suggest a collage of ALL of them;ALL TOGETHER!

It's really a shame that you don't have a photo with a dog AND a cat. That's what your cover really should be, rather than one or the other. And I say that as someone who has many photos of my dog and cat together!

I say divide the cover into 4 and show all of the above. They are all wonderful. Very difficult choice. Kathy

I loved all the photos, and had a difficult time choosing. I ended up choosing Pooch and Schnogg because Pooch had been shot and rescued, and is now leading life in a forever, loving home. I think that is what ASPCA is all about.

Thank you ASPCA for all ya'll[ thats right YA'LL] do. We are greatful that there is someone watching out for the little guys.

I think all 4 should be used for the cover. They are all soo cute and it's hard to decide.

You can't go wrong with any of the pictures for the cover!

Loved all 4 pics but my favorite was the 2 dogs smiling. I think it's important to promote friends for your pet. Every person should be a 2 animal owner (minimum!)

Ok yes all the animals are precious. Everyone quit your bitchin and vote. There are always people who have to be negative. This is all positive for all animals.
