Former NYPD Blue Screenwriter Arrested for Allegedly Killing His Dog

Shame on you, Ted Shuttleworth. The former screenwriter on the acclaimed television series NYPD Blue has just been arrested by ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement (HLE) Agents for beating his Toy Poodle, Lola, to death.

The 51-year-old is accused of striking his four pound dog in the face causing massive brain injury.

“This is a clear case of inexplicable brutality against a tiny helpless animal victim,” says Stacy Wolf, ASPCA Vice President and Chief Counsel for the Humane Law Enforcement Department. “The necropsy established in graphic detail that this dog died a violent death.”

Shuttleworth was arrested on Saturday by ASPCA Special Investigator Paul Romano. His next court date is July 26 in Queens Criminal Court.

They are way to soft on people who do these kinds of things. If only they could be stricter this kind of actions would stop! I think its ridiculous that a grown adult can do something like this a get a slap on the hand. These are basically defensless animals and are only guilty of loving you. Shameful!

Unfortunately all this guy will probably get for his punishment is a slap on the hand. Sentences and fines for abuse against animals is not near as harsh as it should be. I hope our judicial system wises up and fixes the problem soon.

What the heck! I admit, there are far too many dogs to be taken care of nowadays, due to puppy farms and over-breeding, but there being a lot of dogs in the world does not justify someone brutally murdering one. I can only hope that he has to do jail time and pay a hefty fine at the least. Remember judge, he has a lot of money from being famous, the punishment needs to be very stiff. I cannot no imagine someone beating a helpless pup to death. It sickens me to think the pain she must have felt in her last moments. I think now for a crime like this, this should be treated like a human murder. Lola ate, slept & has a heart, she's alive to me like a human and there should be NO MERCY for this piece of $#%t. Poor Lola was probably thinking what she done wrong to deserve this from a person she loved & trusted.

If only "sharing" this sort of news ( and horrendously horrible it is) were the answer to protecting or helping to save the next possible victim but it's not. It angers people. It incites rage in some. It brings the real ugly out in some die hard animal lovers. All justifiably however I won't share the awful tragedy one man chose to commit on an innocent. Instead I will keep it in mind there are millions of pets , more than that even that have no voice, no way of telling of their ordeal. No one to visit them in the shelters, no one to even 'think' of them as anything more than a common household pet. Even our house pets are being fed as if they are little garbage disposals, allowed to grow fat and then we cry when they develop cancer or liver disease or gum cancer cause no one thought cats and dogs were suppose to have their teeth brushed. If you ask me we are perpetuating moronic behavior when we become so lazy and ignorant that one little life means so little. Let alone one some people have three four even five pets and think there's nothing to it. Okay here' what I'll do, I'll tweak my dog Napoleons diet to be a nutritious one. One with out fillers and gunk and from America only. I'll also take him next week to get fixed. We have more than enough underprivileged and abused pets in this world. And the next time I want another family member added to this home I will adopt and not give the puppy mills any more money and give a sweet innocent abandoned kitten a loving home. So much has been done wrong to animals everywhere simply because we choose to remain ignorant, uneducated and that just makes us unfeeling, uncaring and part of the whole problem. I refuse to remain ignorant but I won't spread horrible news through a "share' if I can't be certain of the out come. It's all in that saying, "two wrongs don't make a right" .

I'm just holding him and crying for this poor baby! 4 bs? Why do they just fine for killing an animal? If it were a person he'd have life in prison or death penalty.
