Yippity-Yap—It’s Mutts Day!

Part Terrier, part horse? This sweet mutt is currently available for adoption at the ASPCA.

July 31 has gone to the dogs—and for good reason. It’s Mutts Day! That’s right, a whole day dedicated to embracing, saving and celebrating mixed-breed dogs. We can’t think of a more deserving crew.

With the desire for designer dogs still going strong, one-of-a-kind pups are often left with the short end of the stick. What gives? Mutts rock!

They can be well-behaved and loyal family members, they’re just as talented as their purebred counterparts, and do we really need to point out how ridiculously cute they are?

If you’re the proud pet parent of a mixed breed, we hope you’re celebrating Mutts Day by spending time with your furry companion! And if you’re thinking about adding a new pet to the family, please consider giving a mixed breed a chance.

Thanks to all for making pet adoption your first option!TM

Bella and Moose came to us 8 years ago as terrified, abandoned puppies from another state. Today, they are our faithful and loving companions, each others' best friends, and the loves of our lives! BRING ON THE MUTTS!!!!!

I love my Bella, she is 1/2 pit and 1/2 pug. I call her my Pugit

LOL ^ That made me laugh. I love it! :D

My chance is an adopted mixbreed, part leonberger, and part footstool, he has the most WONDERFUL disposition in the world, he is nothing but a big sissy, and during storms will crawl under the covers with me. Scaredy cat.

I love my lil zesty, he is half dachshund and half chihuahua! I wouldn't know what to do without my lil pup! :)

Samantha is a half husky and half german shephard puppy and she is an amazing girl! She and her brothers were dropped off as unwanted goods at a high kill shelter in the south..I had her transported all the way to NH and its one of the best decisions Ive ever made! Love my baby girl

I love my mutt! Pixie is the light of all our lives. She has surrvived parvo by the grace of god. We are so thankful to have her as our fur baby!!!!!

I adopted a 5- 51/2 month old mutt from the local APL about two weeks ago. She is a part shepherd, lab and who knows what else! She is fantastic and has really helped me get over losing my previous dog to cancer, who was also a mutt. Go mutts :)

Our Mr. Baggins is a pit/rot/boxer mix - I call him a pittie rotten boxer - he is beautiful, very smart and stubborn. He is 6 now - we adopted him as a very small puppy from our local Humane Society - he brings alot to our lives!

I adopted my baby girl, Sweetpea from the local shelter before they closed. She is part pit bull and I think part weimaraner. She looks like it in the face. She was the dog of a man that went to prison and the story is she guarded a pot farm. :( She was beyond stressed at the shelter so I decided to foster her, but I knew I wanted to adopt he'd. That week I want back ti the shelter and officially adopted her. She doesn't like other dogs but we are working on that. She is a great guard dog and very high energy. But she knows when to be mellow. She follows me room to room and even lays in the kitchen by my feet when I do dishes. She is the biggest cuddle bug ever and I think couldn't ask for a better best friend!

My Lexus Rose is part Great Dane part lab. I rescued her but sometimes I think she rescued me. She is a ball of energy that never ends. :)

My doggy Oliver is a shorky (yorkie-shih-tzu mix) but Idont have twitter so I cant add his pic.

Twelve years ago almost on my birthday but not quite...I aquired a small black fur ball...I lived in Northwest Indiana and this pup came from Louisville, Ky so what more appropriate name than..."Louie"? His momma was a cinnamon chow and who knows for sure what the dad was, but I am told Louie looks like a Newfoundland but smaller. LONGER story short...his momma was tied and left outside a burnt and abandoned house, her owner just left her and the puppies...I was lucky enough to get one of them:)P.S. and yes the other puppies were all taken care of by my brother who found homes for all of them...

Babyphat and Milli are my grand dogs. Babyphat was my eldest grand dog. She was a mix of pitbull and Rhodesian ridgeback. she passed away in January. She was the sweetest dog and had the most exotic looking eyes like Cleopatra. Milli is the younger one, a mix of labrador and pitbull. Smart and cute. She is the baby of the family. They bring so much joy and love into my family. God bless all the mix breeds that need a new family and home.

My dog Morgan is a mutt. I found him on the side of the road about a year ago. He is a mix of chihuahua and dachshund. So we call him a chi-hound.

My Yadie, Lab/Pit mix, was found last year during the World Series. I witnessed him get hit by a truck and could not bring myself to leave him on the street. He weighed 9lbs and was 8 weeks old, riddled with various worms and would have died within a week. I am happy to say that in less than one year (birthday is August 23rd) he is my 85lb sweetie! Not only did Yadie (penned after the STL Cardinals Catcher) find a loving home, he found a very large place in our hearts...

I have a true Mutt . His name is Parker and I had a DNA test done . Results 4 breeds in one dog lol.My passion is German Shepherds but he would have been euthanized so I adopted him . I put a lot of hard work into him and he came a long way . He still has some issues but I will continue to work with him . Also part of the barking is bc he has border collie in him and he likes to herd my cats. Parker is a good dog in training lol.

Jack - large but timid Akita mix, Bella - the sweetest, big mellon headed pit bull ever, Annie - adorable boxer (love her face!), Alice - the goofy blonde retriever mix and Shorty - well, his name explains all. All were adopted from local shelter. Can't imagine life without them....

Your page is sweet, your graphics are great, and what's more, you use videos that are relevant to what you're saying. You're definitely one in a million

My mutt pup is a terrier/beagle mix. He was left tied to a tree by his original owners when they moved. He was so adorable! We snatched him up and gave him the best home an abandoned puppy could have. He's three now and sleeps with us in our bed. My husband has sleep apnea and before we knew it was a problem he would stop breathing in his sleep. Our little hero (White Dog is his name) will wake up my husband when he stops breathing by stepping on his chest. He's our little mutt hero! The best dog in the world!
