Michael Vick to Adopt a New Dog? Not So Fast!

It's true. We don't think Michael Vick would make a good doggie parent. The NFL superstar recently claimed on Piers Morgan Tonight that he's interested in getting a dog. Call us crazy, but we don't think it's a good idea. Far from it.

Despite spending 19 months in prison for running an illegal interstate dog fighting business, Vick hasn't expressed a shred of empathy toward the dogs he brutalized and killed. And rather than talk about the horrors of dog fighting, he has consistently chosen to focus on the consequences of getting caught.

In a nutshell, his actions are self-serving. We've seen little remorse and even less compassion. And let's not forget, he caused unspeakable suffering to hundreds of innocent dogs. Frankly, the ASPCA has serious concerns about Vick's ability to be a responsible pet parent.

I am appalled that Vick has the gall to even talk about getting another dog. He should be banned for life from taking care of any other living creature. The cruelty that he inflicted upon these innocent creatures clearly shows that he is a psychopath. I can only hope that one day someone treats him the same way he treated those dogs.

I think he should have a pet. Although he abused and defiled them, he has made every effort with ASPCA and PETA along with many other organizations to speak against cruelty towards animals. Even the Eagles have to pay animal rights organizations to let him play on the team. In an effort to show that he is taking a step in the right direction he needs to have a pet. I think its ignorant to say its like letting a pedophile run a day care. Animals and children are not the same. Having an obsession with sexually assaulting children is a sickness and in most cases cannot be fixed. Abusing an animal and understanding the consequences and results of your actions is something that can be repaired. He has apologized and is trying to move forward. Bet you'd let a pedophile pet your dog before you let them take your kid to the park. People make mistakes... he's human. If you did it you would want someone to forgive you. Vick electrocuted dogs in his swimming pool and seemed to relish beating dogs to death. He is an animal abuser. The court should have ordered him to stay away from all animals; I am very worried about that poor puppy.
