Guess who just became available for adoption?? Briana, the starving, injured German Shepherd mix who was found tethered in a yard back in August.

Here’s what Briana was dealing with when she came to us: starvation, dehydration, flea infestation and, perhaps most horrifying, a deep neck wound from a collar left on so long it became embedded in her flesh.

Briana recovered beautifully over several months, revealing herself to be a mellow, soulful lady who loves to play with toys and receive attention from people.

Did you ever think Jesus sends some people to help animals? Let me tell you, that is what he does do. I have been sent to help animals. There is no excuse for any animal to be treated the way she was treated. Many more are so abused, you could not even look at what was done to them. Yes, there are hungry and sick and abused kids. Let their parent go get a job or plant a garden and do canning to keep their kid from being hungry. I do donate money to Feed the Children, in the US. For those individuals or organizations that give a damn, whether for neglected, abused, or starving human beings or animals, take the time to say thank you. Actually, no. SHAME ON YOU! That is one of the most UNCHRISTIAN comments I've ever had the misfortune of hearing. Honestly, I feel very sorry for you. This accords with the teaching of the psalmist (145;9) that God's compassion rests on all His creatures. Jesus also emphasises the notion and attitude of service. So the dominion of humans who are faithful to the spirit of Jesus' teachings would be a rule of service and compassion to each other and all of creation. The fact that the historical prevailing dominion of Christians has been one of tyranny and brutality to non-human animals is a travesty whose terrible fruits can be seen in the city shelters, factory farms, slaughterhouses and destroyed forests of our planet today.

I just came upon the comment on facebook from someone that believe's it's okay to inflict pain and torture to any of God's creatures. To watch a dog or anything that has been given life suffer is appaling.We as animal caretakers and lovers have a kind and loving heart that goes far beyond our animal shelters and the streets. What an awful person to write "Shame on all of us" just for helping poor Brianna. I work in animal rescue and I believe I am helping God's creatures, after all HE created them. We have a lot of awful people in the world who abuse and hurt animals and they need help because they don't have a voice. I have seen a lot of hard things, things I wish I would never have seen that will be forever embedded in my mind, because someone was cruel to an animal. Why does helping animals preclude helping children? I have adopted children, served on boards for agencies helping children. I also rescue animals and think it is a worthy cause.
