Michael Vick to Adopt a New Dog? Not So Fast!

It's true. We don't think Michael Vick would make a good doggie parent. The NFL superstar recently claimed on Piers Morgan Tonight that he's interested in getting a dog. Call us crazy, but we don't think it's a good idea. Far from it.

Despite spending 19 months in prison for running an illegal interstate dog fighting business, Vick hasn't expressed a shred of empathy toward the dogs he brutalized and killed. And rather than talk about the horrors of dog fighting, he has consistently chosen to focus on the consequences of getting caught.

In a nutshell, his actions are self-serving. We've seen little remorse and even less compassion. And let's not forget, he caused unspeakable suffering to hundreds of innocent dogs. Frankly, the ASPCA has serious concerns about Vick's ability to be a responsible pet parent.

Every animal has feelings! There's no possible way any animal should be in the possession of Vic. Hes a cold hearted person. If anyone lets Vic have any pet, then that person has no remorse for animals.

He is a disgrace. Pete Rose was banned from baseball for gambling and this horrible excuse for a man is still playing football and making millions. He should be banned and should never never ever be able to own a pet again. If he does....I won't quit until he has to give it up!

I don't think he should ever be allowed to own a dog. Sorry his kids want one but he should live with what he did. Let his kids get a dog when they grow up! He doesn't deserve the love that a dog has to offer after what he has done!

Oh wow that is truely wrong! He fought dogs till the death. All the pain and puncture wounds hurt neglect that them dogs endurred because of him he sould never own an animal ever again! He thinks he has a right to get one again? Well hes got another thing comming he aint god and he is no diffrent than anyone else an everyday person who did that would have had way worse consequences than him and are never to be able to own another again the same rule should be the same for him! Just because hes famous doesnt mean hes any different. he is a very sick man! And should never ever be able to own an animal again! From mice to clydesdales that sick man may say hes changed but i bet not im sure he will just do it again! he has no remorse for the dogs who lost their lives slowly and painfully or the ones who ate gunpowder for breakfast or the ones that got put to sleep just because he wanted to have "fun". I wish he would have been tortured like them poor dogs were. I hope to never see the day that cruel sick man get another pet! if they let him thats as bad as letting an innocent person in a cell with a convicted multi murderer! i show nothing but hatred to thoes who abuse fight neglect any animal. Their will be no simpathy or forgiveness on my end. He knew what he was doing and knew it wasnt right he needs to burn in hell slowly and painfully!

Absolutely no! He gets to adopt again he will be right back to where he was before. It might not be right away but he will get there. Anyone that evens considers letting him either purchase our adopt a pet is out of their mind.

We who love animals know that no "reputable" rescue or shelter would allow Michael Vick to adopt anything. Problem he, he'll go a different route and bypass rules and stipulations - just as he did when he fought them, trained them, bet on/against them, and used them for bait. He deserves nothing, and he should have thought of his daughter earlier!

A mother or father cant beat neglect kill their children and all the sudden change and be able to have more the same thing applys animals feel pain they hurt they have feelings also. Michael Vick was already given his second chance by being allowed to play football again (which I didn't think he should have been able to do). To allow him the opportunity to abuse and kill a precious animal again would be inexcusable. I made myself watch him when he talked about what he had done. The man had no remorse. From what I've read he still doesn't see what he did as wrong. I just saw a picture of one of the poor pits who suffered from his abuse - it was unbearable to look at. And this is what he did to them time and time again - all for money. Other people have grown up in poverty (this is his excuse) and have not resorted to this behavior. He went to prison - he should have been committed instead. He should be kept from adopting, fostering, or even having a dog or any animal in close proximity. It is unfortunate that his daughter cannot have a dog, but there are many other parents who have decided that they don't want the responsibility of having an animal as part of the family. And it is a serious responsiblity. Yes, millions of animals are put down each year, but that does not mean that one should be subjected to possible neglect or abuse. Does this person even know how to properly care for a dog? I would think not. My question would be, what, if anything, would we be able to do to stop it from happening? Is there any legal recourse?

After the unspeakable suffering that he has caused to the animals he had. He should never be allowed to own or have under his direct care any animals that he could potentially harm. To do so would be too great a temptation. They should have a registry for people like him. No animal should suffer the way the dogs under Vicks care did. HE shouldn't be worried about the fact that he was caught. He should be more focused on the fact that by some miracle he was set free. IF, he is granted access to another animal he should be under heavy scrutiny for the entire life of the animal.

he should have been tortured like he did with the dogs but worse. I would make him be tied up while 2 MMA fighters beat him. Then, have a police k9 dog use him as a target for training purposes. Maybe later have him get acid dripped on to his skin every minute. Cut his gems off while he is awake no pain killers. After all of that then play russian roulette with him also. Just my opinion. He should be 6 feet under not a live and walking. Ok, venting is over!!! Thank you. I feel relieved for venting now.

I think whatever organization allows Michael Vick to adopt an animal of any kind should no longer receive any kind of funding, donations, etc. I hope the public will gang together and make it publically known that they are not actually helping animals to find good homes. Anyone who would give this man a dog is doing so knowing that they are robbing it from the possibiity of finding an owner who would really love and care for it as a part of their family like you are I would. #NEVERGIVEVICKADOG

Please, if someone needs to be "monitored " to determine if he is treating the dog properly, he SHOULD NOT be a dog owner. I'm trying to keep my cool and not be totally unruly with my language on this topic but Michael Vick is a complete and total piece of sh*t. And so are the people around him for allowing the torture and suffering of these beautiful animals to go on and on without stepping in to stop it. People show you who they are. Michael Vick has shown us he is a monster. Let him go find some other hobby to keep his ignorant ass occupied.

Second chances are a wonderful idea. But if anyone believs that Mr. Vick has come up shot in the lottery of chances that life has to offer, they are crazy. To come from were he came from and end up where he is shows just how many second third fourth hell,, infinty chances he has gotten. How many chances does a person get? Even if he was remorseful, which I dont believe he is, Are we really willing to gamble another dogs well being? No he should not be allowed to own another dog. He should man up, explain to his daughter why he can't have a dog and move on with his life. This is unlikely since we all know the kind of man he is. Off topic,, hey Vick if your reading this, You have about three more years to put a ring on the Eagles mantel. Dont do that and go the way of McNabb. I don't believe he has the right under his punishment by the courts to have another dog, EVER. He has to appeal to the Court to own an animal. So I think this is kind of a moot point.

I belive 100% Vick is going to be one of the worst dog parents. Therefore he should not be allowed to get any pets, after all the damage he has caused to those innocent dogs. There should be a law for people like him, never to get near nor be allowed to get any pets.
